Zimbabwe Emergency Appeal
Over the last few months, the situation in Zimbabwe has deteriorated to a desperate level.
The Health sector has almost collapsed. Doctors and nurses are not going to work. Cholera is continually spreading and cases increasing each day with approximately 40,500 recorded cases so far and 2,000 deaths. The death toll is increasing by104 every day according to the World Health Organisation.

Every Oasis staff member has been affected in one way or another by cholera. A couple of staff members have had it but thankfully have recovered. With the shortage of water and chemicals to treat the water in all parts of the country, it does not look like the situation will improve soon.
The education system has also broken down; teachers refuse to teach due to low morale and poor remuneration (they want to be paid in US dollars) and the authorities have closed schools due to critical shortages of teachers and learning materials.
Oasis Zimbabwe urgently needs funding to enable them to:
- Drill a borehole that will supply clean water not only to the Oasis Zimbabwe centre but also to the surrounding community.
- Open up the centre for medical provisions and offer health education seminars to the community of Kambuzuma.
- Employ a teacher - to run an after-school club to provide additional education
