Hub N:gage

Chris EastonHub N:gage is a new project run by the Oasis church team based at our Waterloo Hub. The idea of the group, which meets every week, is to work with and support young people in school years 6 - 8. Chris Easton, who leads the youth work at the Waterloo Hub, talks about one particular success.

"We met Adam about a year ago. He started coming along to other clubs we ran in the church and found it quite hard to settle into the activities there. He currently doesn't attend school having been permanently excluded for behavioural issues. Initially, he created a lot of fuss.

Then we started our new Hub N:gage group. We were a bit worried about how well Adam would engage with it, but it's been absolutely incredible. For Adam to sit down for more than five minutes was an achievement, but recently in one of the creative art sessions, he sat for over an hour doing a piece of artwork. We've had some fantastic conversations with him, and that too is something that a year ago, he couldn't have managed.

It's unbelievable, incredible to see someone engaged in that way. He's right on the edge of society - he's not in school; to spend time with him and see his potential is great."

Equipment and materials for Hub N:gage are not paid for by the government or big corporations - they're paid for by people like you. It's through your support that we can keep reaching people like Adam.
