God, Guns and Gangs: Urban Youth Work Summit

God Guns & GangsThe first urban youth work summit took place at The Oasis Centre on Saturday 28th February 2009.

The day brought together young people, church leaders and youth workers to discuss the challenges around youth violence and gangs and possible solutions.

Many of the practical suggestions are already being put into practice through Oasis' work in hubs around the country, prompting Keynote speaker, Leroy Logan's call for the faith sector to be part of the solution.

GGGDelegates also heard from local young peple with backgrounds in urban culture and the parents of victims of gang crime.

"It was fantastic to see the church, the police, ministers and young people working together to develop a really practical reponse to this difficult and deep-rooted problem" said Jill Rowe, Oasis UK's Ethos and Resourcing Director and part-time youth worker.
