Statement regarding Oasis appeal
Oasis UK apologises for the inaccurate language used in our summer appeal.
In the appeal we spoke about Oasis South Africa's medical work with people living with HIV/AIDS including testing, counselling and administering antiretroviral drugs.
It costs Oasis South Africa approximately £5 to immunise a child against polio, whooping cough and hepatitis.
Where HIV/AIDS is concerned, Oasis South Africa test pregnant women at the clinic and arrange for HIV positive ladies to access medication that significantly reduces the risk of the baby being born HIV positive.
We recognise therefore that the statement "Just £5 could help us to immunise a child against HIV" is inaccurate and that medicine can only slow the course of HIV/AIDS. We are sincerely sorry for this mistake.
We are very grateful to everyone who has already given to the appeal.
Gifts made to Oasis South Africa are used to fund all its projects including those supporting children impacted by HIV/AIDS.
