Minimum age:18+
Cost: £4200
Application deadline: 31st July
Placement details
Tale of Two Cities volunteers will spend their first 8 months in the UK, volunteering at one of the Oasis hubs and following the same programme as the threesixty teams, finishing in early April. They will then go to volunteer with one of the Oasis global bases for 3 months from April to July. For 2013, the team will be placed with Oasis Zimbabwe.
Global placement details:
Teams will primarily help with children's and youth work, hospital visits, spending time with vulnerable youth, help at pre-schools and serve practically with simple building and painting work. They are also likely to be involved in running a children’s holiday club, as well as sports and recreation activities for students at local schools.
The staff at the Oasis global bases will take good care of these Teams, but you will need to be a flexible, patient and adventurous person - e.g. there will be times where you have to manage without electricity, and carry around your own drinking water. If you are up for the challenge, this is a fantastic opportunity to serve and be stretched in your character and faith.
Please note, the cost for 'Tale of Two Cities' does not include food on the UK placement.
A past team member notes:
"There were challenges, especially at the beginning - we had to get used to working together as a team, and it took time, but we got so much better at it! Also, I had to adapt to a new culture which took me out of my comfort zone, and by the end had taught me a lot about having confidence in myself..."

"my time abroad has challenged me, stretched my abilities and definitely strengthened my faith...it is an experience that I am unbelievably grateful to have had. The people I met, relationships made and work that I did will be things I never forget."
