Adina's story
Adina first came to our Children’s Centre in 2009 with her children. Her husband brought her to us after Adina tried to commit suicide and he was desperate for help.
Adina was lonely, severely depressed and, being agoraphobic, too frightened to leave the house on her own. Slowly we got to know her; visited her home, provided counselling, and introduced her to other parents. She openly admits that the care she received saved her life.
Running a mile with family takes a long time. Feet ache with the weight of responsibility. We want to make sure that children and their parents are happy, healthy and confident.
We do that through our Children’s Centres, which offer advice on antenatal and postnatal care, specialist advice and support for parents and children with disabilities and special needs, help into employment, counselling, sessions for under 5’s and family support.
Oasis currently runs two Children’s Centres in the UK. On average, four new families a week come to the Centre attended by Adina and her children. We have to turn many away because we simply don’t have the resource to accommodate everyone who needs us.
Your fundraising really will make a big difference.
