Family Matters
For most of us life starts in family - of whatever shape or size. It is our first experience of relationship and should be the place where we are most secure.
Then there's life! It conspires against us and the place where we should feel the most precious, becomes, for many, the place where we feel the most pressure.
Financial pressures are cited as a contributing factor in the majority of marriage breakdowns. Add to that every other life challenge that humanity can create, and many mums, dads, children, and grandparents live with broken relationships and broken dreams.
One of the reasons why Oasis Church is committed to supporting families is that establishing
family was God's first action after creation. Family was important enough to God to have his
attention and support, and it should be so for the church too. It is a way of providing nurture and
protection, physically, spiritually, mentally, morally, and relationally - wholeness or 'shalom'
(to use the Hebrew) - in every way.
Some of the children we work with come to school not having had breakfast or even a drink. The may have to get themselves up each morning along with their brothers and sisters as well. Some parents are trying to bring up children without any support, resources, or friends. Unemployment, ill health and not to mention, money, all add to their daily pressure.
So as Oasis, and with our network of churches, we are inviting you to join us in making families - in all their guises - a place of life and shalom for everyone. After all, it is what God had in mind in the beginning.
