You'll be based in Beira, working with local churches who partner with Oasis Mozambique. Gap year teams' main focus will be youth work, as well as teaching some English and running kids clubs. These teams live in pairs or triplets with local families, but spend a lot of their time together.
You need to be willing to learn Portuguese for this placement, as this will be of great help in building relationships in the communities you work with. The Gap year teams will have regular lessons once they arrive in Beira.

"My team was placed in a church and the majority of our work was with children and youth, leading clubs, Bible studies and English lessons. I loved how varied our work was and it really allowed us as a team to use everything we had and all our skills.
I think the most valuable part of my time here was getting to know people, and the relationships I built are ones I will cherish. People in Beira face real hardships but they are warm and loving, and their love for Christ and how they daily depend on Him for everything has been a total inspiration to me."
