More details

Gap Year Teams are placed with local churches and Christian organisations within 2 hours of Kampala, and are involved in a variety of work supporting the church and local community. The kinds of activities the teams are involved in include running kids clubs, leading youth discipleship courses at schools, leading evangelistic assembly presentations, teaching, praying with those affected by HIV/AIDS, leading gospel presentations in prisons and teaching conversational English classes.

There are also SOME opportunities to help at specific Oasis Uganda projects, such as the Bambejja community project, but this is NOT the focus of the placement for 5-month Teams.

Where you will live: Teams live in simple rented accommodation arranged through their church placement. As the placements are in rural areas, you will need to be prepared for boiling your own water, using basic showers, and pit latrines.

Naomi Bloice-Smith went on a 5-month Team to Uganda:

"The family who cared for us in Uganda were true witnesses of Christ's love -they practically adopted us into their family and loved us!"
