Enfield

The Enfield Youth and Community started working in the Enfield Lock area in September 2006, when a team of youth workers moved to the local community to work alongside volunteers to offer youth and community work.

We work as part of the Enfield Hub, alongside Oasis Church Enfield and Oasis Academy which opened for an intake of 180 year 7 pupils in September 2007.

Volunteers are essential to our work, we wouldn't be able to run our provision if it wasn't for the commitment of volunteers, and we are always looking for more help!

Current volunteering opportunities:

We are looking for enthusiastic volunteers with a heart for young people to help at our drop-in youth clubs, which we operate out of three centres.

The youth clubs are to provide young people safe places to come and be cared for, and much of the youth work involves building relationships with young people and supporting them as they develop from childhood to adulthood, and encouraging them to make positive choices.

No previous experience necessary, but will require good team work skills.

As part of our provision we offer cooking workshops to the young people, who are keen to get involved, but don't really know much about cooking!

Patience will be required, but this is a great opportunity to work alongside young people, to help them develop and gain new skills.

One of the aspects of our work that are currently developing is detached work, which involves going out into the community in the evening, meeting with the young people 'where they are at' and engaging with them.

This is very rewarding work, as you build relationships with the young people. You will need to be prepared to go out in all weather conditions, and have good communication skills.

Do you have a passion for football? Street dance? Ultimate Frisbee? Any other sport?!

We are looking for enthusiastic people to help assist in our sports provision, the young people are all very passionate about their chosen sports, and it would be great if we could extend our provision to different sports.

Do you have a hobby/skill that you could share with our young people?

We already provide a range of workshops, including different forms of art, photography, dj-ing and mc-ing and also looking at issues like relationships and drugs. If you have an interest in these or other areas please get in touch.
