Purpose of the role:
To raise income and grow commitment to Oasis Kyrgyzstan, so that the work and projects are financially sustainable. Oasis Kyrgyzstan is developing a Vulnerable Youth project and an Anti-Trafficking project. This role would give experience in both our projects.
The Successful Candidate Will:
Raise awareness of and do fundraising for Oasis Kyrgyzstan and its needs and research and develop new ideas for marketing Oasis Kyrgyzstan and its work, in both the UK/USA and Kyrgyzstan.
This role would ideally be for a 2 year period, with half the time spent in the UK/USA and half in Kyrgyzstan (For example 9 months in Kyrgyzstan, 6 in UK/USA, 6 in Kyrgyzstan, 3 in UK/USA. This is a self-funded role.
Overview
- Fundraise and raise awareness of Oasis Kyrgyzstan both throughout the UK/USA and in Kyrgyzstan through building links between UK/USA companies, churches and schools with Oasis Kyrgyzstan.
In Kyrgyzstan
- Spend time with the Project Managers and the Communications and Publicity Officer in Oasis Kyrgyzstan to understand funding needs and to help build up resources for fundraising both in Kyrgyzstan and in UK/USA, such as fliers, powerpoints, proposals, special fundraising drives etc.
- Devise and implement good campaign planning and strategies for UK/USA and ensure the relevant Oasis Kyrgyzstan staff are aware of and taught how to do future campaigns.
- Learn all details about Oasis Kyrgyzstan and its projects, to be as effective as possible in knowing how to educate others and build support both within Oasis and its staff and with current and future sponsors.
- In linking UK/USA donors with Kyrgyzstan, bring up to date ideas, marketing plans and strategies out to Kyrgyzstan and help to implement them.
- Help to build, organise, educate and coordinate visiting teams from the UK/USA.
- Attend regular networking events, build networking links and encourage and educate staff on how to be an effective networker.
- Work alongside the Communications and Fundraising Officer to source new fundraising opportunities in Kyrgyzstan through visiting Embassies, donors companies etc.
- Take responsibility for submitting good quality funding applications and grant proposals.
- Train staff internally and facilitate others to use fundraising skills needed to continue the organization's work.
- Conduct ongoing research into local and international donors including various types of grants and funds that Oasis Kyrgyzstan could apply for in order to establish a solid network of funding sources for Oasis Kyrgyzstan.
In UK/USA
- Make and maintain links with donors in UK/USA through visiting them, doing fundraising events, meeting up with high value donors, sourcing new partners, running special events etc.
- Attend follow up meetings and events with returning teams and volunteers, to ensure they feel connected to Oasis Kyrgyzstan.
Personal Specifications:
- Excellent researching, writing skills
- Good presenting and networking skills
- Previous experience in fundraising
- Good IT skills
