Vulnerable Youth Project Team Member

Street children in Kyrgyzstan are regularly picked up in raids by the police and placed into penal institutions. Oasis Kyrgyzstan works in three such institutions: a children's detention center, a reform school and a youth prison. Additionally, we provide a supported living program for reform school leavers. This is an exciting opportunity to assist in the Vulnerable Youth Project as well as being a member of Oasis Kyrgyzstan's pioneering team in Bishkek.
The successful applicant will:
- Serve as a key team member implementing the Vulnerable Youth project
- Develop, plan and facilitate life-skills, career counseling, sports programs and/or English as a second language sessions for students
- Practically assist and mentor the boys in our supported living program.
- Research career opportunities and arrange job or learning opportunities for vulnerable youth.
- Participate in the establishment of the Oasis work in Bishkek, including working in other projects as required
Person specification:
- Have experience of working with young adults and/or teenagers
- Be a patient and enthusiastic team-player
- Be creative and an independent worker
- Have a heart for vulnerable youth
- Have experience of careers guidance, teaching English (as a second language or otherwise) and/or life skills training for teenagers
- Ability to speak Russian desirable
- Willingness to learn Russian and/or Kyrgyz or improve level of ability necessary
