Outreach and Rescue
Early intervention is key to effective anti-trafficking work. The Early Encounter programme was developed so that women and children are intercepted immediately after entering the city at a time when they are most vulnerable and afraid of their new surroundings.
The Aruna project, meaning ‘Bright Morning Sun’, provides care and rehabilitation to women and girls involved in prostitution. The drop-in centre provides help for them in areas including health, education for their children and counsel on how to leave the trade. Visiting brothels, establishing relationships with brothel keepers and the girls in prostitution, are all part of the work.
Oasis also partners with NGOs to provide health care, psycho-social care, counselling, encouragement along with vocational training and education, to its beneficiaries at government homes.
