Support Worker (female*, part-time)

Location: Naomi Project, Gateshead

Salary: Grade B: £18,000 (pro-rata) plus £650 anti-social allowance (pro-rata)

Hours: 30 hours per week, evenings, weekends and occasional sleeps over a 3 week rolling rota.

Job Purpose:

Our Naomi project provides 8 supported beds within a 24 hour staffed house setting and 4 beds within 4 flats as managed tenancies for young women aged 16-30. This post is part of the wider Naomi-Karis team that is co-located at our Naomi residential premises and on a local housing estate.

A fantastic opportunity has arisen for an individual who is passionate about working with our client group to work as part of a small team helping with all aspects of running the project; motivating and empowering Service Users towards independent living in sustained tenancies within the community, providing basic life-skills advice, information and guidance and supporting individuals to move on and access appropriate additional services. The successful applicant may be required to cover the occasional sleep shift.

You will have a positive outlook and experience of working with young women in a paid or unpaid capacity. An understanding of the benefits systems, safeguarding and mental health and domestic violence issues and drug and alcohol misuse are desirable. You will have excellent interpersonal, communication, and organisational skills, a willingness to learn and the ability to build cooperative working relationships. Qualified to NVQ Level 2 in a relevant field is essential.

In return you will benefit from a supportive, creative environment and have opportunity to develop your knowledge and skills. We are passionate about our staff and believe in caring for them in the same ways we care about our service users. We are a growing charity and don’t have the resource to provide fancy staff perks: however, we are really good at the things money can’t buy. We believe staff are the foundation stone to the success of the charity and so we do everything we can to make sure they feel valued, supported, engaged and developed. We welcome applicants from all faiths or none, but it is important that all employees understand and sympathise with the Christian ethos of Oasis Community Housing.
