Oasis is launching the Oasis Church Network which will provide mutual encouragement and resources for churches.
Members will be committed to social justice and full inclusion (particularly for those identifying as LGBTQ+), as well as an open, progressive theology, and an informal, accessible worship style.
Any church or individual can join. If you are
thinking of setting up a Christ-centred community
where you live, we’d love to hear from you.
Nathan Jones, Senior Minister at Oasis Church Waterloo, says the Network is being launched in response to demand.
‘Of all the queries that arrive in my inbox, the most common question I get asked is “I don’t live near Waterloo – is there an Oasis church near me?”
‘In 2018, Hay Hill Baptist Church became Oasis Church Bath, which created a model for other churches to join Oasis. We’re are also working with Hull Community Church, who have made the decision to join and will soon relaunch as Oasis Church Hull.
Oasis Church Network launches in Autumn 2021
Alongside regular onsite and online events and resources around theology and ethos, the Network will aim to build churches with four characteristics:
- a commitment to social justice
- full inclusion (particularly regarding those who identify as LGBT+)
- an open, progressive theology, and
- an informal, accessible church service style.
‘Small groups are welcome to join as well as established congregations – anyone who would like to explore what it means to develop a Christ-centred community where you live. If you’re an individual who’s struggling to find like-minded Christians near you, we’d love to hear from you.
