Oasis Smiles, a team of student leaders at Oasis Academy Lister Park, put together over 100 support packs and delivered them to local organisations and families in Manningham, Bradford.

The support packs consisted of food and hygiene products, and were designed to “make people feel valued”.

“They carried out the project by themselves,” says Hub Leader, Jade Ibegbuna, “and they raised £575 to finance the project and got donations  from Asda, Morrisons and Tesco.

“With Covid, the students have been apart a long time so they are able to relate to the impact of isolation on people. This is the first completely student-led project we’ve had and it leaves a legacy for other students to follow.

“There’s a perception that Manningham is a no-go area. But there are some wonderful people doing amazing things here, their voices just aren’t heard. It’s great that the students have managed to shine some light on the area, as it’s something it needs and deserves,” said Jade.
