Summer Sessions

  Oasis Summer Sessions

Bringing much needed social activity and fun for the summer

Children and young people who have grown anxious and stressed over the long weeks of lockdown will be able to enjoy all the fun and social contact they have been missing, at the Oasis Summer Sessions. Oasis hubs and academies around the country will be running activities throughout the summer, as well as tackling holiday hunger through our Plate Up scheme.

Summer Sessions will run from 20 July through August and are aimed at improving mental health and wellbeing for children, young people, and families.

Oasis Community Hub staff and a team of over 250 volunteers from our Academies are organising kids clubs, scavenger hunts, karaoke, youth drama in the park, sports, and family cooking sessions - all aimed at improving mental health and wellbeing through social contact, physical exercise, and creative fun.

‘After an extremely interrupted education since mid-March, children now face another six weeks away from their friends, teachers and all the clubs and activities that schools normally provide,’ says Oasis UK Founder, Rev Steve Chalke. ‘Many are showing signs of mental health issues, such as withdrawal and anxiety. We’re also concerned about children in Year 6 who have not had preparation for transition to secondary school.'

Emergency food provision

‘The need for food parcels has not gone away,’ says Rev Chalke. ‘The Government’s decision to continue with Free School Meal vouchers throughout summer in response to footballer Marcus Rashford’s campaign, is very welcome but millions of families are still facing food poverty this summer.'
